We are looking for Volunteers to support us in the following areas:
CT Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor / Advocate
Community Outreach and Events
Fundraising
A Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor must have successfully completed 40-hours of training and receive at least 4 hours of yearly advanced training to maintain their certification through one of the programs listed above. A Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor has been certified in accordance with Connecticut State Statute 52-146 k.
You must be at least 18 years old.
You must have reliable transportation.
If you are not yet certified, but would like to be, please go to the "SACC Certification" tab to see where you can complete the training program.
The purpose of a Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor is to provide advocacy and crisis intervention, emotional support, information and referrals, and accompaniment (hospital, court, police station, etc.) to victims of sexual assault.
No, a Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor is a volunteer position.
Volunteering as a Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor is a great way to make a difference, not only in in your community and of the lives of people in need, but it will change your life as well.
